Contemporary lays emphasis on the connection of mind and body,
asking dancers to explore their emotions through dance. Dances
created in this manner are frequently very personal. This style of
dance involves work with balance, work with floor, fall and rebound
as well as improvisation. Contemporary dance classes will teach you
to use your body in different ways, with a focus on breathing, body
posture and the emotional connection of your body and mind. Music
for contemporary can range anywhere from soft piano music,
orchestral, rhythmic -- ANYTHING GOES! In
this course, the intermediate/advanced dancer will learn,
rehearse, contemporary modern combinations, performance
technique, and choreography. Partnering and staging will also be
explored in-class for all participants. The course will
culminate in a 3-minute contemporary piece for the camera
